Showcase: A View Backstage
Showcase: A View Backstage was a passion project and exhibition by 45 Design Studio and friends. With financial support from Wellington City Council and Creative NZ the exhibition presented a photographic backstage view of Wellington’s vibrant Latin dance community. The photographs captured dancers training for the annual collaborative event, The Wellington Latin Showcase.
The exhibition was held at Thistle Hall on Cuba Street and included a series of free dance events, providing opportunities for people to experience a little of the joys of Latin dance. The exhibition also included printed profile pieces of some of the featured dancers. This was to give the public a greater insight into who dances and why.
TThe ultimate aim of the exhibition, and the events around it, was to provide exposure to Wellington of the local Latin dance community and create an event that celebrated that community. Photography was by Mo Kalifa, Andrew McGee and Liane McGee with design support from Eliza Dwyer, Jess Henson and Aaron Baxendine. Printing was by Picoflor and vinyl was by NZ Signs.
